5 Cold, Year
of the Spider More than
just a Stupid Girl
One of the early favorites for CD of the year, Cold just seemed
to lose some steam with some truly great releases at the end
of the year. With the strong voice of singer Scooter Ward,
Cold has turned the corner and put forth their best effort.
This is the face of hard rock music for years to come.
Best Songs: “Stupid Girl,” "Suffocate"
& "Rain Song" |

4 Jay Z, The
Black Album Swan Song for
the H.O.V.A.
Jay Z has said that his is going to be his last CD and we
will believe him for now. There is not a better lyricist in
the biz today than Jay and he will be missed if he does stop
the rhymes. While this is not his best effort, Jay has once
again raised the bar that it will very tough to surpass…plus
who else would be able to bring Rick Rubin back to producing
rap records. Best Songs: “"What
More Can I Say," "99 Problems" & "Change
Clothes" |

3 Revis, Places
for Breathing Debut CD never
left our CD Player
Revis was first brought to our attention on a small opening
gig for one of our favorites of 2002, greenwheel, and never
left our CD. This CD has it all and is a must for any rock
lover. Best Songs: “Spin,”
“Seven” & “Re Use” |

2 OutKast, Speakerboxxx/The
Love Below New Kings of
Rock
OutKast certainly became the darlings of the music world with
Stankonia so what do they do to top a hugely successful
release? Well they release a double CD where each focuses
and shines on one CD. How is this supposed to work? Who thought
this crazy idea up? Whoever it was better thank their stars
that they gave the idea to the OutKast, who took it and ran
and created something special. Both albums have their own
distinct character, but each showcases OutKast at its best.
You name it and this CD has it. Don’t be surprised when
OutKast has their name called A LOT at the Grammy’s.
Best Songs: "The Way You Move,"
"Tomb of the Boom," "Hey Ya" & "My
Favorite Things" |
