My Morning Jacket My Morning Jacket
'It Stills Move'
RatingRatingRatingRatingRating

My Morning Jacket has been critically praise since arriving on the scene in 1999 with their debut The Tennessee Fire, and upping the ante with 2001’s At Dawn. Well these Louisville, KY boys are back once again and showcasing more depth than before, with It Still Moves.

It Still Moves opens the CD with a very impressive track in “Mahgeetah.” With a fuzzed-out guitar solo and country/rock melody, “Mahgeetah” has a sound along the lines of the Beach Boys classic Pet Sounds. It Still Moves stays very true to the sound that My Morning Jack et has developed over the years but definitely has a much tighter arrangement and elements to it., while featuring a strong opening punch of "Mahgeetah ," "Dancefloors," and "Golden, three of the strongest songs on the CD.

My Morning Jacket definitely pays homage to the sounds that came before them as you can hear elements of the Beach Boys, American Beauty Hero Grateful Dead, Neil Young and others but still sounding original through the great harmonies and songwriting of lead singer Jim James. My Morning Jacket is a band that wears its influences on its sleeve but still manages to morph them into something new and original and equally as good. It Still Moves is a definite buy for 2003.
