For the second year in a row (last year: Mars Volta's De-Loused
in the Comatorium) a CD showed up in our hands that just
blew us away. It is always good to get something you are not
familiar with, but just completely fall for. Hot Fuss
is that disc of 2004 and our CD of the year. With it's sound
harkening back to days gone by (80's synth-rock), The Killers
are definitely those retro-rockers that you swear are covering
your favorite songs but Hot Fuss is definitely all
new and original. With each song taking a storytelling style,
you are drawn in immediately and by the time the choir hits
(mid- "All These Things That I've Done") you are hooked. Hot
Fuss is the ultimate in debut CDs, and without a doubt
the Best CD of 2004.
Best Songs: "Smile Like You Mean It ," "Somebody Told Me," & "All These Things That I've Done"
