| We recently had the pleasure to sit down with Matt Noveskey and CB Hudson, the dynamic bassist and guitarist of Blue October, before their show at the Avalon. Enjoying the greatest success of their career, Blue October took radio by storm in 2006 and show no signs of slowing down in 2007. Give a Listen* as we talk about achieving success, what it was about "Hate Me" that spoke to so many listeneres, as well as Matt Novesky's return to the band.
1. Matt only appeared on half of your last CD, History for Sale, but now has come back to the group. How did he return to the fold and was there a feeling out process to get used to each other again? Listen
2. After your first major label CD, Consent to Treatment, you were dropped by the label before being picked back up after recording the terrific History For Sale. Was their any hesitation or pressures after History that you were once again in danger of being dropped? Listen
3. What do you think it was about "Hate Me" that struck a chord with so many listeners? Listen
4. In a way, History for Sale and Foiled seem like two opposite sides of a coin in their songwriting. Do you think that has helped expose you to new fans? Listen
5. I just realized when I purchased the CD, the copy that I was sent was not complete and did not include "Overweight" or the hidden track of "It's Just Me". Were both of those last minute additions to the CD, and why since "Overweight" is such a killer song? Listen
6. You did an acoustic in-store performance earlier today, is that something that you have been doing a lot? You also released an acoustic "Hate Me" is a B-side, is that something we will see more of since you are comfortable stripping it down.Listen
7. With a big back catalog of songs, are you changing your setlists around a lot, or keeping it pretty static?
Listen
I want to thank Matt and CB for taking the to chat with me. Once again, Blue October just blew everyone away with their live show, and was definitly worth the wait. We look forward to when the guys come back to Boston!
